Molly: I thought I would start the year with a nice neutral photo of her lovely face. I wanted Molly to have her Dad's beautiful brown eyes but those blue ones are certainly striking. I absolutely adore her dimpled chin. She often has this look of worried concern on her face. She is very thoughtful and often just stops what she's doing to observe something that has caught her eye.

 Fractal: I love the fractal nature of gum trees. 

Grow and divide. Tree branches, clouds, rivers, ice crystals, even a head of cauliflower. It's a mathematical force in nature that leaves nothing untouched. 

Why is geometry often described as 'cold' and 'dry?' One reason lies in its inability to describe the shape of a cloud, a mountain, a coastline, or a tree. Clouds are not spheres, mountains are not cones, coastlines are not circles, and bark is not smooth, nor does lightning travel in a straight line. Nature exhibits not simply a higher degree but an altogether different level of complexity.
